| I have been tagged by Moya :)
Ground Rules: The First player of this "game" starts with the topic "5 weird habits of yourself", and people who get tagged need to write a Xanga entry about their 5 weird habits as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next (insert number here: as many or as few as you want) people to be tagged and list their names. Don't' forget to leave a comment that says, "You are tagged" in their Xanga and tell them to read yours.
1) when I clip my nails, it used to take at least 2 minutes per nail...now I'm down to 1 minute each if I concentrate on being fast
2) I find eating grapefruit relaxing. First I peel it and then separate into segments, then I peel the membrane off of each segment and eat just the pure, sweet goodness. This obviously takes time and both hands (and since this is really the only way I can eat a grapefruit) ; so I can't eat grapefruit unless I have time to relax and disect the entire thing. Also, I usually eat several in a row. I've been known to eat as many as 6 at a time. I'm a chain-disecter, and I can't quit.
3) My hands sub-consciously seek out and find every hidden speck of dirt in a given area. Example: When I ride in someone's car with them, I frequently emerge at the end of the trip with dirt on my face. This was a mystery for a while, until I solved it..he, he he. While talking and viewing scenery and unaware of what my hands are doing, they being fondling the weather strip around the window and any other crevice that might contain dirt or other dark-colored substances. Then, at some point I'll scratch my nose or brush a hair off my face, and voila, a mystery streak appears. I've since made a conscious effort to avoid such practices. I'm in the process of training my hands to behave, but they do love weather strips...it's an uphill battle.
4) I brush my teeth and stretch my muscles in the shower.
5) I figure my gas mileage right in my checkbook every time I re-fuel....or at least I did when I had a car and money to buy gas.
Disclaimer: I don't claim that any of these habits are original, only that they're odd.

| I'll be 23 tomorrow. I'm in Osgood, Missouri right now on a 1-month visit with my parents and sister before I return to the University of Oregon for fall classes. I'm majoring in Linguistics and Computer Science. While I'm in Misssouri, I've been spending alot of time with Jacob. He's the only friend I have in the area besides my sister (my parents moved here while I was in the Honor Academy, so I haven't really "lived" here and don't even know the neighbors yet). I met Jacob last summer quite randomly at the gym. He was working out, but I was just working. I was working for a home-health agency taking care of developmentally disabled clients. They needed some exercise, so I was walking with them around the track inside the gym (it's just too hot for them to walk outside at midday in a Missouri summer). One of my clients saw Jacob and ran over to him to escape from me making her walk another lap. So, my apology for the intrusion was our introduciton. My mom and dad think we're dating even though I keep insisting that we're just friends. I hear my dad on the phone talking to my uncle about "Sarah's fella". Oh well, what can I do. They like him and obviously wouldn't mind if we were dating since they think we already are.
When I get back to school, I'm going to join the crew team. I'm also going to be in ROTC again. Although I've pretty much decided that I'm going with the Air Force rather than the Army, which means that I'll have to commute 2 days a week to attend the program at Oregon State University in Corvallis. I can carpool with other cadets though. I'll be taking more than a full load of classes, so I'm going to have to get a little more strict with my time management and get to bed by 10pm every night so that I'll have enough sleep to function when I get up no later than 4:45am to make it to crew practice on time every morning. It might be exhausting, but I've always wanted to do crew. Maybe I'll even get a little stronger and make some good friends on the team. I'll not be living in the dorms again this year. I have an apartment 3 miles off campus. That means I need to get a bike because I'll be heading for campus long before the bus routes begin. Three miles on a bike is only a 10-15 minute ride at the most. I'm looking forward to a cool, morning ride before the sun is up and the traffic emerges--plus I should be all warmed up and ready to row. We'll meet at the bookstore to carpool to Dexter Lake, a 20-minute drive. I rented a locker at the student rec center (src) again because I'll probably be showering there almost every day. I wonder if I'll ever shower at home; probably just Sundays.
My classes:
Analytical Methods of Morphology + discussion
Computer Science I + lab
Discrete Math
Anatomy + lab (cadavers, I hear)
Military Science + lab
and I was planning to take trampoline, but sadly, those classes are cancelled this fall, so I'm trying to decide on another PE class to have a little fun and keep me from getting too lazy. Maybe I'll try aqua aerobics if the instructor will agree (the class is currently full). If not, I'll just have to find a raquetball partner, preferably one who wants to help me with my math homework. That would be awesome. | | |
